Chapter Eight

ASTRID

“Find everything okay?”

Astrid struggled not to flinch as Zoe’s voice, low and sultry, croaked gently from somewhere just behind her. She wanted to turn and gaze at her accommodating host for the evening but was afraid Zoe would see her blushing.

Again.

Instead, she continued absently wiping the dish she’d just washed, again, waiting for slow ass Zoe to drift lazily in from the side deck. “Sure,” she replied, voice as tight as the rest of her body, stomach and limbs and even her throat tensed as Zoe continued to stand, somewhere just out of sight, but definitely within range.

The floorboards creaked behind her, the weight in the room shifting slightly as Astrid wiped the rustic charger in slow, tight little circles, waiting for what might happen next. Without a word, Zoe slid a hand on either shoulder, warm skin meeting Astrid’s as she tensed at the sudden touch.

“Sorry,” Zoe rushed to add.

“No, sorry, it’s fine. It’s…” She turned, enjoying the sensation of Zoe standing directly behind her, and offered a soft, slow, reassuring smile before exclaiming, “It’s good, actually.”

Zoe gently rubbed her shoulders, fingers glancing along the thin spaghetti straps that held up her slinky new sundress. She had worried about wearing it at first, feeling like an imposter as she’d tried it on in front of the water-stained mirror in her grungy loft apartment. It was so girly and sparse, so simple and feminine and not like her at all. But suddenly, she was glad she’d worn it for Zoe.

Sweet, sexy, womanly Zoe.

Her hands were warm, her fingers tender, her grip gentle. Astrid muttered something, wriggling back against Zoe’s firm, supple frame until she’d made it abundantly clear that this was exactly what she’d wanted tonight. And how badly she wanted it, indeed.

“I…I couldn’t help myself.” Zoe’s breath was slow and cautious against Astrid’s bare shoulders as desire swept them both up in its desperate clutches. “It’s been so long since I’ve touched someone.”

Astrid nodded definitively. “You too?” Her question was an almost desperate squeak, as if she’d lost the ability to mask her emotions in the face of Zoe’s overwhelming appeal.

Astrid started to turn, but Zoe held her in place, just as definitively. From gentle to strong, her grip had surged in strength in the blink of an eye. Not that Astrid was complaining. There was something supremely sexy about being held in place by a soft, sweet, seductive stranger.

“Not yet,” Zoe murmured cautiously, inching closer to her ear so that Astrid could feel the heat of her desire brushing against her blushing skin. “I just want to touch you like this for a moment, do you mind?”

“Do I feel like I mind?” Astrid gave up on the dishes completely and gripped the counter on either side of the sink before she slipped down to the floor, a pile of desire, sweat, musk, and goo.

“No,” Zoe said, squeezing her shoulders for emphasis. “You just feel good. So. Fucking. Good…”

Astrid smirked, looking up to find her reflection in the small window over the sink.
